Reading: Exodus 14-15 and Romans 3
Scripture: Romans 3:21, But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it.
Thoughts: As I read the phrase, “the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law” I was reminded of a thought I had about if you look at the history of the world laid out in the Bible through the lens of the scientific method. I am not saying God is experimenting on the world but using that can point to how to have a relationship with God. In an experiment, you test variables to prove or disprove theories. After free will brought sin into the world could the world be cleansed by destruction? No sin continued. Next, there was a control group everyone except the descendants of Abraham. After growing Abraham’s family, they get The Law, can they be righteous when The Law points out their Sin? No, sin stayed. Then finally after showing the ways where we are not becoming righteous, He sends His Son, who was able to live righteously and sinlessly, to take on the sin of the world so that we can be made clean in his sight because all He sees when he looks at us is His perfect Son. In this thought, it's not about God seeing what will work, but God is showing us what does not work so that we can look to the Son as that Lord and Savior and understand there is no other way to be good enough to get to Heaven and spend eternity in His presence and escape the torment of separation.
Prayer: Lord God, I thank you that there is evidence of your love and your hand in everything I see. I thank you for eyes to see and ears to hear. I thank you for your wisdom and your knowledge. I ask that you bless all you hear your word and are encouraged. I ask that your word be spread to the four corners of the world and I thank you that I may be a small part of that.
