Reading: Isaiah 33-34, Psalm 4, and John 13
Scripture: Psalm 4:1, Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have given me relief when I was in distress. Be gracious to me and hear my prayer!
Thoughts: As I went over the reading multiple times, I tried to find something that spoke to me or what God was saying, struggling to hear anything beyond the words on the page. I started feeling like the beginning of Psalm 4. Felt like I was crying out to God and my prayers and words just struck the ceiling and bounced back at me. I have been struggling with letting God take care of my family’s finances, wanting to control things. I know I went through this several years ago, but I let myself start taking things back from God. Over the last several years things got comfortable in our finances, we were not seeing all the bills for building our home and we got frivolous with our spending. The house was built; we moved in and now there are bigger bills than we thought. Now it's back to relying on God for everything. My wife had come across a post somewhere about a woman who was taking 40 days to praise God. Every time she wanted to ask God for something; direction, finances, stretch the food, or whatever instead she would worship and praise God for what He has done what He is doing, and what she has.
Prayer: Father God you are worthy of all praise, I thank you for the air in my lungs the ability to go to work. I thank you for the job I have. Your glory shines all around and I thank you that I get to experience even a small piece of it. I thank you that you provide all we need. I thank you for my family and the joy of being here. You are my Lord and Savior, you own the cattle on a thousand hills. I praise you and honor you.
