The dos and don’ts to getting into heaven.

Reading: Jeremiah 51 and Romans 11

Scripture: Romans 11:30-31, For just as you were at one time disobedient to God but now have received mercy because of their disobedience, so they too have now been disobedient in order that by the mercy shown to you they also may now receive mercy.

Thoughts: For some disobedience was earlier today, for some it was yesterday, and for some we don’t even recognize it as disobedience any longer. Paul was talking to the church in Rome helping them to understand that the system of works is not a valid system to get to God. There are many churches out there that still teach the dos and don’ts to getting into heaven, and if you don’t do the dos the right way and completely flee the don’ts you are not going to make it to heaven. Paul is telling us that it is only the gift of Jesus that will get us into heaven and the dos and don’ts become apart of who we are as we seek to be closer to him and become a mirror of the one we serve. 

Prayer: Father you are the great redeemer, you are the gardener who prunes and grafts in. I thank you for grafting me into your family and into your root. I thank you for my family and friends. I thank you for your provisions and blessings that you pour out on us. I ask that you help us to see where we are being disobedient and help us to get back into alignment with you.
